从战力来讲，威灵顿的部队参杂不齐。开战前那个乱开枪的那索军差点把自己的主帅毙了，但防守乌古蒙那4个连真是强悍，硬把热罗姆的4个团赶出树林外。雷耶第二军应该有不少精锐法军，人数又占优势，攻乌古蒙的法军增至1万4千人的时候还无法拿下一个只有4000-5000防守的庄园，法军在那里损失了6000多人。皇帝本意是要英军从中部分兵，牵制英军，反而被威灵顿的英军所牵制，他的中路部队基本没动，法军倒是有一个师的人拌在那里。
